The leaves are changing and so are the pillows

The leaves are changing and so are the pillows

I carved out some me time this week to play with my house. Some people get manicures, some people go to the mall, I play with pillows and vignettes.

The summer has left the building around here. 1 of our trees is already cranking out the leaves and turned totally yellow. The nights are much cooler and the breezes are crisp.

So with a new playlist cranked, I transformed our house from the green and white summer decor to the warm rustic fall comforts.

I went a little camera happy again, playing with my new toy so for today we will just wander around the main floor.

one of the trophy collections being guarded by the birds

instead of the birch poles this fall, i though i'd make a collection of pumpkins in the urn plus a couple of crows for quirk

the great thing about this season change-up was almost everything came from shopping my house. the purchase for this fall were the kilim pillow covers i purchased from here

i went for a more colourful neutral in the pillows this year. the linen restoration hardware pillows came out of the closet, the velvet apple green pillows and some wool houndstooth, green/brown houndstooth in a different scale. i covered 1 of the sofa cushions in a really soft green grainsack and draped a german grainsack around another. adds to our eclectic decor and the colours all work together without getting too busy

oops, what is that.... a new media center. well now how did that get there?

this lovely beauty deserves her own post. it will come soon.

an easy change to add colour to your decor is change the colour of books that are on display. i have added some deep red books to bring out the red of the pillows. oddly simple but it works.

i had a remnant in my office i found at the thrift store a few months ago in this green and brown plaid that works perfectly in the dining room for the autumn season

Are you a seasonal decorator or a holiday decorator?

Have you given up on summer for this year and made any changes?

Have a great day,

Meg
