Nothing works better than a DIY project when you’re personalizing your small home, and what better way to dress up a room than with some DIY wall art? From projects you can do with the kids to sophisticated designs that are best left to the adults, we’ve got plenty ideas to get you started.
Pallet Prints
Wooden pallets are all the rage when it comes to DIY projects and they can be used for just about anything, including wall art. Use them as a canvas and paint straight onto them, or use prints if you’re not so good with a paintbrush. You could even stamp your favorite saying or a famous quote onto a wooden pallet if words are more your thing. Whatever you decide, finish it off with gloss paint or leave it as it is for a more rustic effect. This is a project the kids can get involved with too, as it’s fairly simple and fuss free.
Sophisticated Shelving
If you like a clean, modern look when it comes to your interior design, then this one is for you. Super thin shelves that look more like ledges can be fitted to the walls, and your favorite framed photos can simply be propped up against the wall like this. Decide on a color scheme before you start and paint each frame before arranging them accordingly and voila, you’ll have a perfectly co-ordinate picture wall.
Vegetable Stamping
If you want a project your kids can join in with, then vegetable stamping is perfect. Buy a cheap blank canvas and a few peppers, potatoes and carrots and chop them in half. Fill a few trays with different colored paints and dip in the vegetables before using them as stamps on the canvas. Family Fun
If DIY isn’t your thing, you could have your own at-home family photo shoot. Get some snaps of the kids playing in the garden and have them blown-up onto big canvases by a company like Canvas Republic. They make a great feature when hung above a fireplace, and they’re sure to be admired by everyone who visits your home. It doesn’t have to be expensive either, especially as you’ve taken the photographs yourself, so it’s a good option for those on a budget.
