DIY Super Hero Kids Bedroom

DIY Super Hero Kids Bedroom

If your kids are anything like mine you'll know super heroes are the coolest thing on the planet! They want to play with the action figures, dress up like their favorite character, watch all the cartoons...and totally trick out their room in them! Honestly, I love doing the projects as much as they love the actual super heroes! You'll find a vast assortment of cool DIY projects here plus some must have store bought stuff to finish out the look. Basically everything you need to create the perfect pint sized super hero lair.

It's OK if you want to make any of these projects for yourself...we won't tell anyone! Did you have something cool you make for your little crime fighter? Please drop a link to the tutorial in the comment section!

First you will need to strip down the room & fix any damage those little angels have done. You should fix up any holes before you paint (you have boys you know there will be holes!) this will give you a quick DIY fix. Once this is done, sanded & smooth it's time to move onto the painting.

Here's a guide to picking the right kind of paint. as for color...It's really a personal choice. Any range of blue, yellow or green will match a bright action hero. A more subtle grey or lighter color will make the characters really stand out on the walls. Personally, I would go grey & do a skyline.

The graphic above has all the super hero Pantone colors so you won't have to guess! You can thank this guy! He also has the evil villains colors listed on the site.

I really can't pick my favorite wall art here & I think I would have to make them all...and maybe a few more! These are just too awesome to Not make!

When you have kids you know that the "toy situation" is always a crisis. I'm not even sure where all that crap comes from! This tutorial includes templates for a DYI storage cube makeover. The end result is nothing short of amazing! Plus you can use a simple cheap cube shelf from Target or Ikea & they still look custom.

This groovy tutorial walk you thru changing those standard pics in to a comic book theme. You can get super creative with this one! Almost any action shot can be turned into a fun super her piece of artwork for your kids room...or your office.

It's possible that this is the coolest bed for boys...EVER! First it's a loft bed with a hidden roon underneath it...awesome. Second it has a slide, that's right a slide! Third it's totally tricked out in a batman theme. Classy.

Once you add the skyline scene you could really make this into any character theme...or even add several. Most wall decals would stick fine to the side of this as long as the surface is smooth.

Wicked Super Hero Bedding!

If you're going to go super hero you better have some awesome bedding! The bed is the focal point of the room & it sets the tone of the theme. Choose a group shot or an individual character, there's no wrong answer with super heroes...well if you're a purist you may want to keep DC comics & Marvel comics on opposite side of the room.

Trick out a Lamp Shade!

A new drum lamp shade & a sharpie can really go far in this type of design! Add in some buildings, maybe a logo if your artsy...it doesn't have to be perfect so don't try to make the lines straight.

Tip - If you print out a logo you can simply tape it to the inside of the shade...once the light is one you can trace it quite easily. Be sure to remove the paper when your done.

Stuck with a baby blue lamp from the nursery days? If the lamp base doesn't match then grab a can of spray paint...$4 will make it have an entirely different feel.

If you're handy with a sewing machine then you will love this creative project! It's a custom comic book style pillow with piping & a crazy cute look. Personally I think this is adorable, but I am helpless with a sewing machine.

Did you buy cute little pastel letters when your son was born? Well they need a makeover...comic book style! This great tutorial is going to make those plain letters feel totally custom. It's super easy & a makes for a quick project.

Buy Some Groovy Artwork!

This groovy piece of art can be made with either cut out paper or material...it's pretty cute & sure to be a big hit with big brothers!

Everyone has a couple outdated tacky lamps hanging around...turn them into super hero masterpieces! This girl even found glow in the dark hot glue to add the new fabric so it also Glows...nice touch.

All you need is a little time & a great silhouette to make this fab piece of artwork! I love that there are literally a million ways this could turn out just by changing up the paper or silhouette.

These aren't decals, these are paint by number stencils so you can easily add some comic book style to the walls, dressers, desktop or even make canvas art.

Wicked Lighting That Pops Out of the Wall!

These aren't just cool pieces of art, these are Marvel Comics lamps! The include a wall decal that makes it look like the object, face or fist is busting thru, they look amazing once they are up!

With a little creativity & a $3 print from Staples you can make this spectacular effect featuring your own kids! If your going to go custom...go all the way.

The thought of painting a wall mural is not only scary but a bit stressful! However this is a paint by number wall mural Stencil...which means it will look outrageous & be super easy to do. Simply trace the design on the wall & fill in the numbers!

This is not a doll house...this is a sophisticated establishment for professional crime fighters. No Polly Pockets Allowed.

I love the design, how it functions & the fact that it opens...but I would have to trick this out with some bright primary colors!

I love the idea of taking old ratty action figures & making them into a fabulously cool lamp. I'm sure you can find tons of these at thrift shops, garage sales or in the bottom of the kids toy box. A couple dozen well placed heroes will make this lamp rock!

Posters are great but a image on canvas looks really finished & makes the room look like a designer did it! This one is a respectable 16" x16" & features a whimsical cityscape with a crime fighter & cat.

The skylines are perfect for this room theme, add in a chalkboard & you've made a kids day! Not only can this be the perfect backdrop for crime fighting action hero play...but it really ties the room together.

Forget the nightlights, make some groovy light up wall art with a superhero theme. These are great for just about any of the characters, & will really make that theme come alive!

I'm not sure if I want to buy this or make it myself but I think it's flipping adorable! I'm sure this can be done with masking tape & a little effort on the lettering. If you want to buy this one it's made by Whimsy & co...it 8" tall & 24" wide.

Who doesn't love letters on a kids wall? You can go all out & make an apphabet, their name or just some great saying that you love. This step by step guide will walk you thru the simple project...even the kids can help with this one!

Get a Growth Chart!

I love this one, it's not hero specific yet has that classic comic vibe. You can Either purchase this one or get creative & make your own! It's made by Oopsy Daisy Fine Art for Kids, and titled Comic Adventures Growth Chart by artist Holli Conger. It measures 12 by 42-Inch tall.
