The first time I shared our dining room was back in October of 2012. Since then the room has seen quite a few changes and I thought it was time to share some new pictures with you. I am also in the process of updating my home tour, so over the next month you will see a few familiar spaces, with an update or two.
The first big change to the dining room was moving the hutch to the back wall. I’m not sure why I didn’t place it there in the first place because I think it looks so much. The downside was I then had big empty wall staring at me. We had been wanting to add a buffet for entertaining and this would now be the perfect spot.
I spent several months searching for just the right piece of furniture that would work in the room and at the right price. I was so excited to find this one which you can read all about here. The mirror was another piece that took a long time to find. I wanted something wood and it needed to be big to fill the space, but I did not want to spend a ton of money. Just as I was about to give up I found this beautiful mirror at a local antique/consignment shop for $50.
The accessories are all pretty much the same just moved around a bit.
The candlesticks on the table used to be silver and were in the family room. I simply gave them a new look with some gold rub n buff.
My favorite new accessory and big splurge were the buffet lamps that I purchased from Ballard Designs which you can find here. I did save some money by waiting until they were offering 15% off and free shipping. I am in love with the cheetah print and the lamps are the perfect height and size to not overpower the table.
The only thing I would still love to add to our dining room is a crystal chandelier. Something big, fabulous and sparkly! So far everything I have found has been way out of my budget, so the hunt continues…
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
