There comes a time when chairs just need to be replaced. Maybe a leg on one is broken, the design is totally out of date, or maybe you just want an update in general.
Sometimes, we come to obtain one random chair that doesn’t match with any others in your set.
There are countless reasons to have chairs you don’t need, anymore. But, there are even more reasons as to why you shouldn’t just throw them out.
Chairs actually work really well when you hang them up on walls. That is such a weird sentence, but it’s true. Don’t worry, no one is sitting on the wall-mounted chairs (hopefully).
Instead, the chairs are used for shelves, and the results are absolutely adorable.
Here are ten different chair shelf designs that you’ll want to put in your home right away.
1. This upside down shelf
For this project, they didn’t even have to do anything to the chair except nail it to the wall and add a piece of wood for an extra shelf. It’s perfect in the bathroom for hanging towels and storing toiletries.
2. This chair-back basket shelf
Only the back of the chair was used for this one. Instead of hanging towels on the chair itself, they added a cute wire basket and a shallow shelf to house a couple smaller items.
3. This above the toilet shelf
The seat of the (upside down) chair back makes the perfect spot for a bathroom candle and incense. This one could be easily modified to keep more of the seat for a deeper shelf, making space for extra toilet paper rolls or a tissue box.
4. This decorative shelf
The fun part is deciding which part of the chair, and which direction of placement, to use for the project. A popular decision is this one that uses the back of the chair upside down, which is great for towels. But, every single version of this choice looks different because of the different colors, chair designs, and decor.
5. This shelf for the bathroom
The bathroom is a popular spot for these chair shelves, but it’s because it works so well. Hooks were added to this one as to not block the beautiful wood work on the back of the chair.
6. This distressed decorative shelf
The bathroom isn’t the only spot for these shelves though. This chair was kept right side up, and it looks amazing distressed with the simple vases on it.
7. These sideways chair shelves
Having more than one chair next to one another works wonderfully too. Nothing had to be added to these chairs to turn them into shelves, and it looks so good!
8. These duo of shelves in the hall
The chair actually doesn’t have to be on the wall to be used as a shelf, like the one on the floor here. But, the miniature chair added above it does complete the whole look nicely.
9. This chic shelf
