I found a $7 twin size headboard. I saw the spindles and wanted it.
Jer looked it over a time or two and then got to doin' his magic. Designing. Drawing. Calculating.
The best part of this project was MY NEW SANDER!!! This puppy is AH-mazing!!! Nothing gets this girl (she even gets her own nickname. we chose, "Ry") more excited than her new sander....well, except for my boytoy. :) Ry has saved me a boat load of elbow grease. For that, we are besties. best-investment-lately.
I broke her out of the box and immediately got to sandin'. She worked like a champ.
I used my 3M block sander for the spindles.
Once we primed both the bench and the headboard, Jer used really long screws to screw them together.
After about 3 coats of Rustoleum's primer and 3 coats of white spray paint (I chose to spray paint because of the ornate detail of the headboard), a few baskets and pillows to top her off..... she was puurrty.
The pillows are from TJ Maxx and the baskets are from Michael's.
The headboard had a few small details (holes) that we decided to keep instead of putty them closed.
Just for fun....a quick photoshopped picture of what she'll look like against our walls when we paint them. I like it.
