Well, we decided not to hire a maternity photographer this time around. We’ve just been taking random photos when we get the chance or having a friend snap some of us as a family. They’re not professional quality by any means, but they work for the few photos we’ll frame around the house. Luckily, we’ve had good luck with them and have a great way to remember this second pregnancy (which has absolutely flown by)! Here are some of our favorites…
(the first couple are from 3 months ago…the belly is just a taaaad bigger now. And by a tad I mean a TON, eek)
So there ya have it! DIY maternity pictures. That’s how we roll around here. We’ll see how that goes for newborn photos…
Ahhh, vacation! We have looked forward to this trip since last year when we went with a group of friends to Lake Hamilton in Arkansas. We decided then that this will be a yearly tradition. This year, it was just us and our good friends (more like family, really) and their little guy. It was a perfect mix of relaxing and adventure. We were fortunate enough to stay in Jenn’s parent’s BEAUTIFUL lakeside home, AND ride on their pontoon boat! Here’s a little rundown of the trip in photos (and no, they’re not in order)….
The boys ordered oysters at the restaurant on the lake one night. What’s cooler than a restaurant you can drive your boat to?? Love it.
Charley gave Jackson lots of hugs and kisses on the trip. I think she’s getting the hang of this big sister thing!
The best part of grocery shopping was the awesome car carts they had! She was one happy shopper
We spent a lot of time on the covered porch playing with babies and watching the boats go by.
It rained the whole trip down to the lake, but by the time we got to Lake Hamilton, a rainbow was waiting for us. It’s like it was saying “welcome, the weather will be beautiful for your trip!”.
This little cowgirl sat on a saddle for the first time
Kissing his piggies!
We were so impressed with how well Charlotte did on the looooong road trip. We left at 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning and didn’t get to the lake until 6:00 p.m. We pulled out all the entertainment we could, including learning how funny TWO binkies in the mouth is.

Charlotte loved the boat!
So did Jackson The life jackets though, not so much.
Boys will be boys- jumping off the dock
Not creepy at all…
It’s never fun leaving a wonderful vacation. But we have many more years to look forward to! I’m sure as the kids grow up, they’ll have fond memories of our summer lake adventures!
Hope everyone had a great Easter!
Our holiday was especially fun now that Charlotte knows what’s going on! We spent the weekend with my parents and on Sunday with my Mom’s side of the family. We enjoyed a great Church service Saturday night, and Charlotte even fell asleep to the music at the end (first time ever!). Here are some photos to recap the weekend.
I think this photo is a great representation of Charlotte these days. Pure JOY!
It’s a miracle! I’m back for Five on Friday. Fridays really are my favorite…I know I’m not alone in this. Charlotte and I get to spend the day together on Fridays, and with this beautiful weather we’ve been having lately it makes for lots of fun out door activities! I feel so blessed to have the day off to spend with her, and I truly cherish every second of it.
I couldn’t be more excited for this weekend because it’s my favorite holiday, people! Charlotte officially has 3 Easter dresses (because every girl needs at least one outfit change!) and two Easter baskets filled to the brim. We’re going to attempt to dye Easter eggs and start all the fun traditions we can! Hopefully I’ll get around to sharing some pictures of the festivities.
Without further ado, let’s recap this week (courtesy of my trusty iphone)!
ONE– What would I do without a handy husband? I wouldn’t have nearly as many cool/unique furniture items around the house! I got the idea for a new headboard when we got a new King size bed back in October. I knew I wanted to something timeless, and I’m pretty much obsessed with all things Restoration Hardware. So, I designed it and he pulled through like no other. I am SO in love with it! The pictures just really don’t do it justice. Now, all we need is matching nightstands
Before Stain:
I am thoroughly impressed with the kid’s section of our public library. Charlotte has a ball every time. She’s obsessed with books, so of course she likes that part, but there’s also an aquarium, kitchen set, dress up area, blocks…the list goes on. We’ve been going every week so she’s getting used to it and loves playing with the other kids who happen to be there. Yay for free entertainment!
THREE– Holy cuteness. This little girl is just so happy these days, and if you could just hear her “silly laugh”. There are no words to describe it. It’s like she learned that if she laughs a certain way, people around her can’t help but laugh too. It’s pretty amazing.
She eats at the big table with us every night now, which she loves (and so do we). We started saying a prayer before dinner a couple months ago. When Eric and I sit down at the table, she puts her hands together and looks like at us like “come on, it’s prayer time!”. We say the prayer, and all the while she has a huge smile on her face…like us saying something in unison is the coolest thing ever. Then, she says “AAAAMEN!” when it’s over. I get that we all think our kid is the cutest thing ever, but there’s just something about a tiny person “praying”!
FOUR– We have graduated to BIG GIRL JAMMIES! This is a big deal, people. Charlotte has worn footed pajamas to bed since she was born. Now that it’s summer, I decided that it’s time for some nice cotton jammies. I think you can tell by the picture that she feels like a princess in them.
FIVE– The old school tire swing has been upgraded to a Charlotte swing! Daddy and his handy skills made it happen. Now it’s become a nightly ritual to get in a nice, long ride on the swing. She loves every second of it.
