Easter Decorations and Crafts
But, after Easter.....
I wanted to do something "different" and not just make a wreath. So.... I scouted the craft stores until someone would sell me the base of styrofoam in the shape of a cross (usually they are used for funerals). I wrapped it in burlap, adding a little greenery, painted and distressed a pre-made wooden plaque. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the letters and Viola!! I also moved this to the mantle and used it as a "Spring" item after Easter in celebration!
When I was a little girl, my mom always helped us make Easter nests. We went out to my grandparent's land and collected Spanish Moss. Then, the day before Easter we would make the nests. After the nest was shaped we would go and collect wildflowers and flowers from the flowerbed. Then we would wait for the Easter Bunny to fill the nests the next morning!
They are up to check them before we go to Sunrise church at 6:30am!
This year instead of carrying the traditional basket, I made pails for my boys, stepdaughter, niece and nephew. This will stack much better and will grow with them as they get older. Dylan was QUICK to take the bow off- haha!
We also bought (but you can make- pinterest), Resurrection Eggs. I read the verse and the boys looked at the object that went with it each night. They were excited to see what was going to be in the egg and it was another way that I could tell the story of Easter to them! LOVED it!
