Here is a quick and easy criss-cross reversible mop cover to wash or dust your floors. What I love about this cozy is that it stays on even when it’s wet! And it works so much better than those disposable covers that you can buy. Not only that, it is better for the environment because you can keep reusing it.

This cover fits a 10″ by 4″ mop, but it can easily be increased to fit any size by increasing the number of chains.

Skill Level: Easy

Materials:

Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton

Crochet Hook: H/8-5.00mm

Gauge: 3″ over 10 sts

Finished Size: Fits a mop that is 10″ by 4″

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains

Fl = Front Loops

FO = Fasten Off

Hdc = Half Double Crochet

Lp/Lps = Loop/Loops

Rep = Repeat

Sc = Single Crochet

Sc3tog = Single Crochet 3 Stitches Together

Sk = Skip

Sl St = Slip Stitch

St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches

Special Stitch Instructions:

If you are adjusting the pattern in size, make sure to make your chains longer than what you need the finished item to be as the crossed hdc’s will shrink the work. Please refer to the gauge and make adjustments accordingly.

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 35,

Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook, *sk next ch, hdc in next ch, hdc in skipped ch; rep from * across to last ch, hdc in last ch. (34 sts) Turn.

Row 2: Working in fls only, ch 1, sc in first st and in each st across. (34 sts) Turn.

Row 3: Working in both lps, ch 1, hdc in first st, *sk next st, hdc in next st, hdc in skipped st; rep from * across to last st, hdc in last st. Turn.

Rows 4-9: Rep rows 2 & 3. Do not FO, continue with edging.

Edging: Both sides of the fabric look good (in my eyes anyway). So decide which side you want as the Right Side. Then work the edging with Your Right Side facing.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc around with 1 sc in each st and 12 sc along each side; join with sl st in first sc. NOTE: Do not increase at corners. (92 sts)

Rnds 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with sl st in first sc. (92 sts)

Rnds 4-7: Ch 1, sc around working 1 sc3tog in each corner. Join with sl st in first sc. (Note: My rounds joined at the center stitch in corner, so I slip stitched into next st, and single crocheted into next. Then I finished the round with a sc3tog over the last st and the first 2 sts that I skipped at beginning.) FO at last rnd. (60 sts)
